About Cary Leiter

Meet Cary Leiter, an author who has spent his life breathing life into words while shaping characters that stay with you. Every page he writes carries the rhythm of theatre and the soul of someone who’s lived many lives, both on and off the stage.

He is sometimes recognized as Walter White from “Breaking Bad,” but he insists that Bryan Cranston is much better looking. Besides, he had the look years before the show appeared on the air.

Introduction

The Man Behind the Story, Dr. Cary Leiter

Currently, Dr. Leiter is working as an English teacher at Lake Worth High School in Florida. He has an M.A. in English and a Ph.D. in Theatre, but he would rather write full-time. He was once an actor and appeared in many plays off-Broadway. Still, when he moved to Los Angeles, he worked for two-and-a-half years in “Bleacher Bums,” an original production from the Organic Theatre Company of Chicago, whose principal creator was Joe Mantegna, star of “Criminal Minds” on TV.

Writing Between Truth and Theatre

For Cary Leiter, writing is an exploration. His background in theatre sharpened his understanding of character and conflict, while teaching honed his empathy for the human condition. Every story he writes reflects that balance: the drama of performance and the quiet truth of reality.

Armed with an M.A. in English and a Ph.D. in Theatre, Dr. Cary Leiter combines literary insight with dramatic craft. His academic journey reflects a lifelong fascination with the language of emotion, character, and truth, both on the page and in performance.

Before stepping into the classroom, Cary lived the art of storytelling on stage. As a former off-Broadway actor and theatre performer, he learned how to capture audiences not just with words, but with presence, timing, and heart.

A passionate storyteller at his core, Cary blends the precision of theatre, the empathy of psychology, and the realism of lived experience into every piece he writes. His stories invite readers to look beyond the surface, to find meaning in the spaces between words.

Cary’s creative path eventually led to the big screen with his appearance in the 2004 feature film Pearl Diver. His performance carried the same authenticity and depth that defined his work in theatre, proof that a good story resonates no matter the medium.

Today, Dr. Leiter teaches English at Lake Worth High School in Florida, where he inspires students to see literature not as an assignment, but as a living art form. His classroom is a space of curiosity, creativity, and connection, much like his stories.
